ABOUT ME

I am an integrative psychotherapist with an MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy, with distinction, from the University of Salford. I have also completed the clinical elements of a 3-year doctoral training in counselling psychology at the University of Roehampton, and am now in the doctoral write-up stage before becoming an HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist. I have had further training in person-centred therapy, in addition to training in psychodynamic therapy and cognitive behaviour therapy. I have also completed additional training in Compassion Focused Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

I have worked with many people experiencing multiple challenges including anxiety, low mood, physical ill health, bereavement, family and relationship challenges, domestic abuse, sexual violence, eating distress, body dysmorphia, and work difficulties including bullying and harassment. I have experience working with adults and older adults, neurodivergent and neurotypical clients, in multiple settings in the private, charity and NHS sector.

I have a particular interest in working with people experiencing physical health challenges including chronic health conditions, life-limiting progressive illness, pain and fatigue. I understand how intertwined physical and mental health are, and the impact of ill-health on quality of life, sense of self, and relationships. I have NHS experience in a physical health setting and have a caring, empathic approach, helping people explore and process emotional distress as they adjust to new diagnoses, cope with progressive illness, live with pain, manage fatigue, or navigate health or age-related anxiety or grief.

I have also undertaken specialist training in domestic abuse, bereavement and trauma. I have a wealth of life and work experience, and a background in charity and local authority work, including social services and homelessness. I am a registered member of BACP (no. 384080), and a graduate member of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
